Since 1920, the Royal Corps of Signals has given the combat arms of the British Army the ability to communicate with each other to enable to pursue a battle effectively.
They are often some of the first units to enter the battle zone.
Their history can be traced to 1870 when ‘C’ Telegraph troop, Royal Engineers was formed.
In 1920, Winston Churchill created the Corps of Signals which became the Royal Corps of Signals when the title was conferred by King George V.
The Corps was involved in every theatre of war in WWII, and in every conflict in which the United Kingdom has been involved in since.
Their role has become even more significant in the functioning of the British Army and in communications with their counterparts in the Royal Air Force and Royal Navy in our increasingly interconnected world.
