As the many thousands of technical personnel that passed through the main gate will know, RAF Cosford has been one of the main training stations of the Royal Air Force since 1938.
While RAF Locking became the centre for ground based electronic training, RAF Cosford concentrated on airborne electronic systems until the closure of RAF Locking and the transfer of Number 1 Radio School to Cosford.
RAF Cosford also hosts the RAF Cosford Museum, which displays more than 80 aircraft, including the mighty Vulcan and superb Lightning.
Many aircraft flown by the Royal Air Force during the cold war can be seen, as well as those from WWI and WWII both allied and axis.
The Bloodhound Missile Preservation Group is also resident at RAF Cosford, recreating a Missile Section as it would have been while the weapon was in service.
